My current research interests are mechanical properties of advanced high strength steels (AHSS). Depending on the chemical composition and deformation conditions of the AHSS, diverse deformation mechanisms can be operated. Because the mechanical properties of AHSS are strongly dependent on the deformation mechanisms, I investigated the operating deformation mechanisms of the AHSS. Especially, I studied deformation twinning and dislocation behaviors of high Mn austenitic twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steels. For further understanding of the mechanical properties of TWIP steel, effects of microstuructures such as grain size, carbide precipitates, grain orientation on the deformation mechanisms were investigated in detail.
