My research focused on mechanical properties of ultra-high strength steels. Previously, I was involved in the research projects on various medium-Mn high strength lightweight steels. Because the mechanical properties of medium-Mn lightweight steels are strongly dependent on the microstructures and deformation mechanisms, I investigated the operating deformation mechanisms of the medium-Mn lightweight steels. Especially, I studied the formation of deformation-induced martensite from austenite grains having optimal mechanical stability and the κ-carbide precipitation of medium-Mn lightweight steels.
More recently, I investigated the impact of boron (B) and nickel (Ni) on the toughness of medium carbon steels.
